Data

Where dates come from, and what we keep

Every date in Local Bins says whose it is. This page explains each source, what Local Bins keeps on its servers, and how to ask us to delete it.

Where dates come from

Your schedule

Set up by you, stored on your phone, never changed without asking.

From council data

Answers filled in from an official council or government source where there's a reliable match, then checked by you. Your council is still the authority.

Confirmed by neighbours

A pattern at least five households in the area shared, checked by us before it's offered. If you change it, it becomes your schedule.

Official data and licences

Where the app uses official data, it shows the source in the app. Each source has its own terms and attribution; publicly available is not the same as openly licensed.

Data or deletion requests

Email hello@localbins.app from the address you used, saying what you'd like deleted and roughly when you sent it. Don't send your street address, passwords or identity documents.

Deleted details can stay in our encrypted backups for up to 35 days before they expire.

Things on your phone aren't on our servers. Delete the app, or remove a place in You › Places, to delete them. Bin nights sent for Bin night on the Lock Screen are the exception: turning it or reminders off deletes them at once, and if you delete the app they go once the last one has passed, within 8 weeks.
